I’m on Brooklands Radio!

I’m thrilled to share my recent experience on Brooklands Radio’s Just Women show, hosted by the wonderful Jo McGowan. As the founder of Tree Duck Design, it was a fantastic opportunity to talk about my passion for creating brand-aligned websites that help women business owners thrive online.

Discussing My Passion for Web Design

During my chat with Jo, I talked about how much I love helping entrepreneurs, especially women, with their websites, branding, and SEO. I shared that my journey started as a freelancer without much support, which is why I’m passionate about supporting women business owners today. Many women are starting their own businesses, and I want to ensure they don’t have to go it alone. By creating beautiful and effective websites, I help them earn their own money, improve efficiency, and save time.

Empowering Women Business Owners

Jo asked me why I focus on helping women in particular. I explained that I’ve done some personal work and reflected on my journey. Starting without any help was challenging, but things have improved significantly. Now, there is more support available, and I want to contribute to that. Women often do jobs they are passionate about, and I want to help them succeed by creating websites that effectively sell their services and products.

The Transition from DIY to Professional Websites

We also discussed how many small business owners start by creating their own websites on platforms like Wix or Squarespace. While this is a great starting point, as their business grows, they often need a more professional website that truly reflects their brand and audience. That’s where I come in, whether it’s creating a new website or improving an existing one. I work with various platforms, including Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, and Weebly, to make them look more professional and resolve any technical issues and make them work harder for you.

The Importance of Design and SEO

Jo and I delved into the importance of both the design and technical aspects of a website. A well-designed website not only looks good but also makes the user journey easy and encourages action, whether it’s downloading a lead magnet, buying a product, or booking a service. Good design includes lots of white space, lovely images, and clear call-to-actions. Content is also crucial, and while AI tools can help generate ideas, it’s important to infuse your personality into the copy.

SEO is another critical component. Search Engine Optimisation helps your website get found when someone searches for relevant terms. This involves using keywords naturally throughout your headings, subheadings, and content, and ensuring technical SEO elements are in place. A well-optimised website increases visibility and drives traffic, which can lead to more customers.

A Favourite Project: Miss London Concierge

I shared a favourite project I worked on earlier this year with Miss London Concierge. They had an existing website that didn’t reflect their new direction of targeting bigger companies. By revamping their brand and website, we created a sophisticated and professional online presence. The result was incredible – within five days of launching, they received enough business to cover what they would usually get in a year.

The Tree Duck Design Approach

At Tree Duck Design, my approach is holistic. I believe that every business is unique and deserves a website that reflects its individuality. From the initial consultation to the final launch, I work closely with my clients to understand their vision and goals. This collaborative process ensures that the end product is a website that truly aligns with their brand and business objectives.
